One win and one loss from our two games over the weekend. The season opened for the 14s Regional Conference Side with a 1ST round clash with last years’ champions Riverina . We could not have started any worse conceding a goal within 2 minutes . From this point we found ourselves on the back foot for the remainder of the half. We went into halftime 0-4 down but to the boys credit we had created some goal scoring opportunities which if converted could have seen the game turn around. In the second half the boys showed great character as they matched it with the larger and more physical Riverina. An impressive display where we produced more goal scoring opportunities in a very even half of football but alas the final score stayed at 0-4. Although a disappointing result it was heartening to see the boys lift in the 2nd half against a red hot Riverina side.

On Sunday we were up against Northern Suburbs FA. We commenced with the starting eleven from Saturdays’ loss giving the lads an opportunity to redeem themselves. They did not disappoint showing much better resolve to limit the oppositions scoring opportunities. Our enterprising play enabled us to net a couple of well taken efforts which took us to the break 2-0 up. A much more satisfying effort from a coach’s’ perspective. In the second half we again dominated play but we wasted a number of gold edged scoring chances. A little more composure in front of goal and we could have scored 2 or 3 more. Anyway a much better performance than Saturday but we still have a lot of improvement in us. Well done boys.
